Memento

Grandma's Cradle
Yarn, Wood, Dark Red Paint
3" x 3" x 2"

For this project, I was inspired by the memory of learning how to crochet from my grandma. She would rock me in her dark red rocking chair while she crocheted, teaching me simple stitches to remember when I was about 7 years old. She would often crochet at night next to a tall lamp while rocking me to sleep.

I chose to build a type of cradle made from a repurposed rocking chair that I painted dark red to represent her rocking chair. I crocheted a small ball and a larger ball with fuzzy yellow yarn that I stitched together to represent the warm bond we shared at night next to the light from the lamp.
