A Natural History Of The Senses - The Hand

“Touch is so important in emotional situations that we’re driven to touch ourselves in the way we’d like someone else to comfort us. Hands are messengers of emotion.” - Diane Ackerman, A Natural History Of The Senses

Hands portray emotions through touch or gestures such as an angry fist, a joyous clap, or a confident handshake. For this piece I wanted to show a range of emotions with several different ribbons of color coming out of my personal handprint. The colors represent emotions such as joy, sadness, anger, envy, and fear.
